The training is intended for anyone who wants to become familiar with the changes introduced in version 7 of the BRC GS Packaging Materials standard, applicable after the end of the transition period, i.e. from April 28, 2025.
On 28 October 2024, the British Retail Consortium Global Standards (BRCGS) published BRCGS Packaging Materials Issue 7, replacing the existing Issue 6 of the standard. This revision reflects an industry-wide focus on improving risk management, adapting to global supply chain challenges, and incorporating emerging best practices in packaging security. To facilitate a smooth transition, BRCGS has announced a launch date of 28 April 2025. After this date, all audits must be conducted in accordance with Issue 7, giving organizations time to review and implement the new requirements.
First published in 2001, the Global Packaging Materials Standard is used worldwide by companies supplying packaging to food production facilities. It is also an essential resource for food factories that produce their own packaging and labels, as well as for conscientious companies seeking to confirm that their packaging suppliers are adhering to the relevant guidelines. The standard is now in its seventh edition, and this latest publication aims to reduce the frequency of the most common non-compliances associated with the sixth edition. Key topics include hazard analysis and risk assessment, product safety culture, and the latest GFSI Benchmarking requirements.
